Common Assessment Standard and CHAS Elite Membership
We are extremely pleased to confirm that we have been awarded CHAS Elite Membership. This means that PHF is now compliant with the new Common Assessment Standard. Lets take a look at what the Common Assessment Standard and CHAS Elite Membership means for our company.
What is the Common Assessment Standard?
The Common Assessment Standard is a data sharing solution between the following three recognised assessment bodies:
- CHAS
- Achilles
- Constructiononline
This standard will allow companies to be certified once a year by one of the above and this should be accepted by contractors and clients who will no longer need to specify a specific assessment body.
Data from a key question set relating to health and safety (building on the areas covered by the PAS 91) and the requirements of the CDM Regulations 2015 means that by meeting the Common Assessment Standard PHF are able to work for multiple organisations that are now using the standard.
Organisations Using the Common Assessment Standard
The following organisations are currently part of the standard.
- ASUC
- Balfour Beatty
- BESA
- Bouygues UK
- Clancy Group
- Costain
- Derwent London
- HS2
- Keltbray
- Kier
- Mace
- Multiplex
- Osborne
- Sir Robert McAlpine
- Sisk
- Skanska
- Tilbury Douglas
- VINCI Construction UK
- VolkerWessels UK
- Wates
CHAS Elite Membership
Having been awarded CHAS Elite Membership means that we have opened a wider range of possible project opportunities for PHF. The membership application is very similar to our SafeContractor Accreditation but with more detail and evidence required on our part.
The other schemes that are part of the Common Assessment Standard are:
- Achilles – BuildingConfidence Gold Desktop Audit
- Achilles – BuildingConfidence Gold 1 Day Site Based Audit
- Constructiononline – Gold (desktop) and Platinum (site based).
There are two levels of certification from each body: desktop and site based. Both types of assessment will involve completing a set of prequalification questions covering the areas of risk management. A full set of supporting documents and evidence for your answers will be required to meet any of the above accreditations including CHAS Elite.
The Benefits of CHAS Elite
By achieving our CHAS Elite accreditation, it proves to potential customers that PHF have the knowledge, experience and training required to manage a wide range of risks in the workplace.
By achieving this accreditation, we can prove that we have procedures in place to manage:

- Financial
- Environmental
- Quality Management
- Equal Opportunities and Diversity

- Modern Slavery
- Corporate and Professional Standing
- Corporate Social Responsibility
- Building Information Modelling

We are extremely happy to add CHAS Elite membership alongside our other accreditations.
